Traditional Lesson Plan
In this lesson plan, students used "My Shot" from the musical Hamilton to practice identifying figurative language. Students would work in small groups to annotate focusing on metaphors, similes, and allusions.
Non-Traditional Lesson Plan
In this lesson, students will read Juliet Takes a Breath and apply the 13 steps of Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey. Students will work in groups and with guided questions to outline Juliet's Hero's Journey culminating in students writing their own Hero's Journey.
